Initiation ceremonies and rituals of initiation are a long-standing human institution and are found in practically every form of human society. This Friday Night Magick class will explore the historical background and essential nature of the magical initiation ceremonies of Ordo Templi Orientis. This class is open to all members of OTO and to invited guests of the Order.
OTO is a voluntary organization so we make the following suggestions for donations from attendees:
- €5 for initiates/unwaged
- €10 for non-initiates
This will be the first in a series of two classes on Initiation – the first class will be historical and theoretical, while the second will be primarily practical.
Patrick Everitt will present on the historical development of magical and esoteric initiation ceremonies in the West.
Rodney Orpheus will present on the initiatory system of Ordo Templi Orientis, its significance, and degree structure.
These two presentations will be followed by an informal Q & A session, moderated by Brian Conniffe, during which both initiators and initiates of Ordo Templi Orientis will give their own perspective on initiation and what it has meant for them. This is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in OTO, or magical initiations generally, to engage with OTO initiates of varying levels of experience.
The Book Of The Law, the revolutionary text central to the magical life and work of Aleister Crowley, and at the core of the radical world-view of Thelema, was received on three consecutive days from the 8th of April 1904.
On the anniversary of this event, Rodney Orpheus, Patrick Everitt and Brian Conniffe of Ordo Templi Orientis Ireland will present an approachable and accessible discussion exploring the core concepts and principals at the heart of this work, including the pantheon and cosmology of Thelema.
This event will conclude with practical instruction in, and an interactive group performance of, the ritual of Liber V vel Reguli, a powerful invocation of forces of the New Aeon, and the means by which the individual may personally utilise the potencies central to the current of Thelema.
This event will be held at our Dublin location and open to OTO members and invited guests, contact us for more information.
An in-depth class on the Minerval initiation ritual of OTO. We will be walking through the ritual, learning how to perform it, and examining its symbolism in detail. Highly recommended for any new initiate into OTO, or indeed, any member wishing to learn more about the fundamental rites of the Order.
This will be held at our Dublin location, and given that this class will be dealing with private aspects of OTO rituals, it will be open to OTO initiates only.
Since the ritual also features the use of a set of Thelemic rosary beads, we may well be making those as part of the evening – so bring any bead making gear you may have ;-)
This event will be held at our Dublin location and is open to all OTO members and invited guests.
In this first of a series of classes on the fundamental methods of Aleister Crowley’s Magick and the basics of Raja Yoga, Brian Conniffe and Patrick Everitt of Ordo Templi Orientis Ireland will present an approachable, accessible and practical exploration of topics, including the essential techniques of meditation and ritual: the means by which daily life may be exalted to the heights of spiritual attainment.
